Backend Engineer

Learn production backend engineering the honest way: real NestJS services, scoped tickets, and a senior engineer reviewing everything you ship.

Jaipur, India · remote friendly (IST)Full-timeNestJS — supervised delivery

The role

A junior backend role with supervision built in, not bolted on. You'll work on real services — APIs, jobs, integrations — in well-scoped tickets with senior review on every pull request. The goal is simple: in a year you should be an engineer who's shipped production systems, debugged live issues with help, and knows what good looks like because you've worked next to it.

Role details

What you'll do

  • Deliver scoped backend features in NestJS/TypeScript with senior review on everything
  • Write tests alongside your code and keep them green
  • Work with PostgreSQL: queries, migrations, and understanding the schema before changing it
  • Investigate bugs methodically and write up what you find — the write-up matters as much as the fix
  • Grow on a deliberate path we set and review with you openly

What you bring

  • 6 months–2 years of backend experience with Node.js/TypeScript (internships and serious projects count)
  • Fundamentals you can explain: HTTP, databases, async, and what happens when requests fail
  • Something real we can look at — a deployed API, a contribution, a project beyond a tutorial
  • Receptive to direct code review and quick to apply it
  • Good written English — async-first means writing is how you'll work

Nice to have

  • Exposure to NestJS specifically, or a typed backend framework like it
  • Basic SQL beyond ORMs — you've written a JOIN on purpose

You'll work with

NestJSNode.jsTypeScriptPostgreSQL

What you get

The deal, plainly

A real growth path: supervised delivery now, ownership as you earn it — reviewed openly every quarter

Senior-led delivery: your work is reviewed by people who've shipped production systems, and you see how they think

An AI-native workflow — modern AI tooling is standard practice here, with human review as the quality bar

Real products in production: client work that ships weekly and gets used, not internal demos

Async-first, writing-heavy culture on IST, with deliberate US/EU overlap instead of late-night calls

How we hire

Four steps, no gauntlet

  1. Apply

Send the form on the role page — the cover note and links matter far more than a perfectly formatted CV.

  2. Intro call (30 min)

A real conversation about the role, your work, and whether the fit is mutual. No trick questions.

  3. Practical round

A scoped, role-relevant exercise or portfolio deep-dive — designed to respect your time, not a weekend of free work.

  4. Founder conversation & offer

You meet the person you'll actually work with. If it's a yes on both sides, we move fast.
